In response to recent Social Media activity, Wiltshire Friendly has issued this statement which we would like to share with all players and Club members.

“Wiltshire Friendly (local Income Protection provider and Club sponsor) takes its claims admissions very seriously – claims payment is the key purpose of our plan.

We would like to clarify a very important point. The Society does not renew or change the terms of its plan once a plan is taken out. The plan terms are set, communicated to the person insured, and that is then how we assess any future claim.

Some sports do carry specific terms regarding the deferred (or waiting) period. For example, our current standard deferred period for a rugby injury in the amateur game is 4 weeks.

It is also important to remember that rugby injury is just one of the incapacities that can result In a claim. Illness in general, or injury in normal day to day life whilst carrying out your job, is also covered and in many cases the deferred periods are shorter than for rugby injuries. The personal plan terms are stated and accepted by the insured person at outset.

If any of the Club’s members have any questions about their membership, please contact the Society directly on info@wiltshirefriendly.com or 01225 752120 and we will be happy to help clarify."

This recent conversation will have raised your awareness of injury and income protection and Wiltshire Friendly would be happy to visit the Club to explain and answer any related questions you might have.
