Trowbridge turned their attention to the Bath Combination Cup with this tie played on the Thursday before Easter. They have not beaten the University side who play in a University League at a higher level in recent years but they were at full strength apart from Alex Murchison who was nursing an injury.

The teams looked ideally matched in front of a crowd of enthusiastic spectators including members from other clubs in the area and the University went ahead with an early try from a speedy left wing, but Trowbridge flanker Ben Mallett stole a ball in a maul to equalise soon after to go over unopposed. The University soon scored again before a series of phases ended with Trowbridge left wing Alex Christopher scoring in the corner. Tom Weaver converted. Trowbridge took the initiative and forward pressure resulted in two converted tries before the break when the score was 24-10 to Trowbridge. The Trowbridge domination against a quick paced University side continued and scored two more tries in the second half, both converted by Weaver before the students went over twice for unconverted tries before Trowbridge scrum half Ali Lane capped an impressive try near the end which he converted himself to complete their best Trowbridge performance of the season with a 43-20 victory. Apologies for the lack of recognition of the other scorers not identified in this fast moving encounter! The forwards should be praised for their commitment in a match as they eventually dominated their opponents in a match well refereed by Dorset & Wilts official Stephen Whalley.

The Doric Park side finish their league campaign this Saturday against North Dorset who gained a welcome win against Thornbury whose impressive recent form of late had made the result something of a surprise. This should improve the prospects for North Dorset in their play off match against Royal Wootton Bassett 2nds next week. Trowbridge have been drawn to play Midsomer Norton in the Semi Final of the Combination Cup on a date yet to be decided.
