Graeme has a senior Trowbridge RFC career of over twenty years and if you cut him in half would bleed dark blue and gold!
This is a squad that many would want to be selected in but only the very best make the cut! Eddie Jones would be proud of Graeme's 'finishers'.
1. Doug Little - was only good for scrummaging by the time he left Devizes and came to Trowbridge but could still do a job. Massive head as well.
2. Jack Hanham - the most talented player to come out of Trowbridge while I’ve been around. Equally good in the back row or at scrum half.
3. Zoltan Szabo - I once heard an opposition fullback say “oh shit” out loud and run in the opposite direction when Szab was in full flight bearing down on him.
4. Bod Lawes - quality player and decent on the beer as well. Needs to be the 2005-ish vintage so we’ve got at least one line out option.
5. Mark Durant - Mr Consistent on the field and anchorman for our season-long undefeated boat race team from circa 2002 off it.
6. Alex Huscroft - should have played a lot more games than he did. Never got involved with rucking and mauling but a great ball carrier and hard tackler.
7. Michael Johnston - honorable mentions for Barry Combes and Jamie Little here but the rest of the pack is so ugly I had to pick the handsome Irishman despite only playing a handful of games together.
8. Dan Smith - I played with Dan for various sides through the junior age groups and into seniors together. A class player but prone to incontinence when drinking.
9. Tom Hanham - only selected because his brother is playing hooker - nice passer of the ball but terrible on the beer.
10. Richard Jones - great rugby player who could read a game and was deceptively quick. Zero kicking game for a fly half
11. Mike Wareham - one for some of our older members. Brilliant winger who flew Hercules’ for a living. Looked like Freddie Mercury.
12. Simon Leat - 1st XV captain when I made my debut. Surprisingly skillful and never allowed the fact that his opposite number had already passed the ball stop him from making his tackles.
13. Adam Sullivan - nearly selected him on the wing or in the backrow due to his inability to pass off his left hand but there was too much class there.
14. Dilly Dowling - had serious wheels in his prime and scored tries for fun if he could keep his shoulders from dislocating. I suppose he can drink ok as well.
15. Ashley Chalk - I was just about hanging on to the first team when Chalky came through. He’s done alright.
Finishers:
16. Adam Misselbrook - valuable addition to any boat race team.
17. Matt Dudman - just in case it looks like it’s gonna kick off.
18. Ady Moodie - great scrummager with hands like feet.
19. Lee McClurg - thrower of the best punch I’ve ever seen on a rugby field at Devizes. The guy was snoring before he hit the deck.
20. Greg Ashford - great tourist, unless it’s your first time.
21. Rob Russell - if you wanted quality service from your 9 then Robbie provided it every time.
22. Nicky Little - the bulldozer.
23 Mark Blake - pound for pound the best tackler I ever played with, but has the worst tattoo in TRFC history.
Thanks for your time G, good luck trying to manage this bench!
