Trowbridge came out on top in a battle royal as they dispatched Achester 33-7 to set up a cup final against Southern Counties North league leaders Bletchley on February 1st at Doric Park.
With both sides seemingly determined to run the ball wide despite the wet conditons the home side crossed the line first through a James McFarlane capitalising on a poor clearance kick and rounding the Alchester defence to score out wide Lloyd Davis adding the extra points, this was closely followed by a try from Ashley Chalk and another successful conversion from Lloyd Davis, the visitors hit back almost straight away with a Tom Iles try and conversion from Adam Thompson, Trowbridge now seemed to move up a gear pilling pressure on the Alchester defence resulting in a forward pushover and an unconverted try for Alan Chadwick and to end the first half a second converted score from full back Ashley Chalk. (26-7)
The second half saw the visitors test the home defence to the full attacking the Trowbridge line at every opportunity looking for a score to bring them back into the game, to their credit Alchester never gave up playing for the full eighty minuets, but the game was over for them once prop Sean Jones got the final score, Davis was once again successful with the conversion to end the game. (33-7)
