Trowbridge came away with a win after a close encounter with Devon side Ivybridge, Lock Alan Chadwick did his best as a candidate for the fastest yellow card competition by being sin binned after only five minutes play.Lloyd Davis opened the scoring with a penalty Ivybridge being caught going off their feet at the brakedown,with Ivybridge trying to run the ball around and play the game at pace mistakes were inevitable, the home pack showed their power by taking control at the scrums, rucks, and mauls putting the visitors under more pressure this resulted in another successful penalty from Davis,Ivybridge's Matt Grieveson landed a penalty to get the visitor on the score board on the stroke of half time (6-3).
Ivybridge started the half with the weather coditions in their favour and looked to run everything through their impressive set of backs but were starved of possession by the home pack keeping the ball.Matt Howard touched down for the home side from an impressive pushover try Davis added the extras,this was followed very quickly by another pushover try from lock Mark Durant Davis again adding the extra two points taking the Trowbridge score to 20-6,going into the last quarter Trowbridge came close to throwing this advantage away by giving away three more penalty's Matt Grieveson making no mistakes bringing Ivybridge within one score of snatching a victory but the home defence held out to win a good quarter final game.(20-15)
