Trowbridge's dismal start to the season continued when Windsor visited Doric Park on Saturday. Once again the forwards competed well despite having players missing, and they are capable of playing attacking rugby, but mistakes are punished in this league with counter attacks and the absence of a top class finisher has not helped their cause.
In this match they attempted to play at a quick pace, but almost immediately a wayward pass resulted in Windsor right wing Gary Morgan picking up and racing over in the second minute. Further tries for the visitors came from flanker Tom King. He was up in support of skipper Neil Baggett in the 12th Minute who had to leave the field with a leg injury and from left wing Jack Gaylor on the half hour. All three tries tries came from around the half way and Paul Laidler converted all three. In between the tries, Trowbridge played some entertaining rugby but the difference was that the visitors were able to finish their moves. Adam Sullivan made a break and gather his kick to threaten, but the move finished near the Windsor line. On this visit to the Windsor 22, Matt Howard forced his way over for a try and Lloyd Davis converted to make a score to more reflect the play at this stage - 21-7. Laidler missed a penalty just before the break.
The second half began with Trowbridge attacking. Winger Aaron Bray came from the blind side to make ground in midfield but was tackled just short of the line, but Windsor turned the ball over and counter attacked for Gaylor to score. The good natured game continued at the Trowbridge end and proceedings were interrupted when the forwards had a disagreement but no action was taken. A Trowbridge penalty was given and they cleared their lines. Windsor introduced a replacement winger John Hilton who was returning after a long term injury. Trowbridge had no answer to his pace and he proceeding to scored four tries, all converted by Laidler. Laidler also scored a try himself, but was unable to convert. Mark Durant spent the last ten minutes in the sin bin, but Trowbridge who never gave up attacking when they could, scored with the last move of the match with centre Nicky Little going over and Davis converting.
