Salisbury 45 Trowbridge 10

Trowbridge winning run came to an end with a different looking Trowbridge side made the short trip across to Salisbury’s Castle Road ground, Sam Edwards replaced Matt Mayne in the front row, Scott Williams in at wing forward for Matt Howard, Alistair Lund coming in at ten for Lloyd Davis and Matt James replacing George Fowles on the right wing , George Leat started at centre replacing Dave Finlay who was out with concussion, while Aaron Bray Alex Hole and Jake Hemingway all came in on the replacement bench.
Trowbridge had the better start to the game putting the home side under pressure from the off and were rewarded with a penalty goal attempt from Joe Knight that went just wide, Salisbury then kicked their way out of trouble pushing Trowbridge back in defence and from a poor defensive kick from Trowbridge spread the ball along their backs sending centre Rob Larcombe in for the opening score, their ten Tom Lane making no mistake with the extra two point’s (7-0), Trowbridge once again got the upper hand forcing the home side to go off side and a successful penalty goal from Joe Knight getting the visitors on the scoreboard(7-3) .Salisbury then went further ahead from a forty meter penalty goal from Tom Lane increasing their score to ten points to three (10-3) after twenty minutes play. The home side now started to gain confidence and started to play more open rugby moving the ball through their good set of backs forcing the visitors to defend until they managed to force an overlap with right wing Tom Pottage getting in behind the Trowbridge backs to score under the posts, Tom Lane once again adding the extra two points (17-3) Salisbury continued to play the more expansive game from the restart and sent in Tom Pottage for his second, which was converted to end the first half with a twenty four points to three (24-3) advantage.
The visitors started the second half by bringing on Alex Hole and Jake Hemingway into the pack and for a while kept control of the ball forcing the Salisbury pack on to the back foot and eventually over the line to score a much needed try from Jake Hemingway. Joe Knight added the conversion (24-10), but once again the home side responded almost immediately from the restart with a second try from centre Rob Larcombe and successful conversion from Tom Pottage (31-10) Trowbridge were now under considerable pressure the home side seemed to have total control of the game and even with Salisbury at one point being reduced to thirteen the visitors could not penetrate the home defences. Rob Larcombe got a another try and a conversion from Tom Lane (38-10) and to finish the game the Salisbury full back Ollie Bowden ran in to score once again, Tom Lane added the extra two making the final score forty five points to ten (45-10).
In general Trowbridge suffered from having too many players unavailable and it is hoped that most of the absent players will be available for the home match against Leighton Buzzard at Doric Park next Saturday.
