Second half pace and discipline costs Trowbridge

After making several changes once again Trowbridge struggled to stay in touch with a very good Witney side, Lloyd Davis got Trowbridge under way with a 35 metre penalty goal after six minutes only for Witney s ten George Lewis to level the score and go further ahead with another goal after only ten minutes, Dave Finlay put the visitors ahead again with a good try Lloyd Davis added the extra two points (6-10). Trowbridge missed touch from a penalty kick this allowed Witney to spread the ball wide and run around the Trowbridge defence sending their Lewis Collins in for Witney s first try giving George Lewis an easy conversion to make the score thirteen points to ten (13-10) Trowbridge misjudged the restart kick resulting in a scrum on halfway, this gave Witney s backs another chance to attack the Trowbridge defence and break through to score a try from centre Matt Clarke out wide, the conversion was missed (18-10) just before the break Trowbridge were reduced to fourteen Sean Jones sin binned for in from the side this gave the home side advantage and they were quick to act on it with another try for Lewis Collins the conversion was missed ending the half twenty three points to ten (23-10).

Witney started the half at pace and it wasn’t long before their George Lewis got on the scoreboard converting his own try (30-10) the visitors did not seem to have an answer to Witney s pace out wide, now back at full strength Trowbridge still struggled to contain them, next to score the first of his hat trick of try’s was left wing Harvey Dodman-Edwards who showed real pace his first try was converted by George Lewis (37-10) but the extra two points was missed with his second (42-10) Trowbridge then had a further setback with captain Scott Williams going off injured, again Witney ran in another try this time from their replacement player Declan Baylis and converted by George Lewis (49-10) then a major problem for Trowbridge Lloyd Davis received a yellow card for dissent and in quick succession Gareth Davis also got a yellow for a late tackle, reduced to thirteen the visitors struggled on manfully but had no answer. Next to score from a set scrum was number eight Karl Cambell the conversion was missed but made the score (54-10) now back to full strength Trowbridge not giving up ran in a second try Ashley Chalk scoring near the post. Lloyd Davis added the conversion (54-17), but there was still time for the left wing pace man to get his third try the conversion was missed ending the game fifty nine points to seventeen (59-17).
