Trowbridge travelled to Maidenhead Braywick Park ground in high spirit’s after two wins last season only to be beaten by a good home side. Maidenhead opened the scoring after ten minutes from a free kick the unusual bounce of the ball on their 3G pitch beating the Trowbridge defence allowing Perry Janson to touch down and Tom Finnie adding the conversion. Maidenhead put the visitors under pressure from the restart forcing them back in defence and it was not long before centre Christoph Bart ran in behind the Trowbridge line to score under the posts Tom Finnie adding the extra two points (14-0) Trowbridge won the ball from the restart and started to put their game together winning a penalty attempt 45 meters out but we’re unlucky with the conversion the ball going to the right of the posts forcing a twenty two drop out, again the visitors forced the home side back in defence and from a set scrum George Leat got the backs moving, Joe Knight forcing his way through the home defence to score under the post Lloyd Davis added the conversion taking the score to 14-7 at end of the first half. The first score of the second period came from a Trowbridge set scrum, Dan Phillips won the ball so effectively that it shot out of the back of the scrum and Mark Childerhouse the Maidenhead scrum half hacked it over the Trowbridge line to score, Tom Finnie was again successful with the conversion (21-7) shortly after the visitors were reduced to fourteen when Gareth Davis was accused of collapsing a maul and from the resulting tap and go penalty Maidenhead right wing Mike Davies went over to score out wide, Tom Finnie again adding the extra two points (28-7) the Trowbridge forwards were now under pressure with the home side keeping Trowbridge deep in their own half and had it not been for some excellent defence the home score could have been more Maidenhead did score two more converted tries from pushovers and both by their captain and loose head prop Myke Parrott to end the game forty two – seven (42-7)
