Windsor 5 Trowbridge 0

Despite the poor weather conditions and an 8-30am pitch inspection Windsor decided to play this fixture, Trowbridge got proceedings under way on the wet and muddy pitch and went with their normal expansive style of play as opposed to the home side who kept the ball in their big pack to good effect, on several occasions driving the Trowbridge forwards back 30 metres, so it soon became clear that the visitors had to change their style of play and like the home side keep the ball in the pack, the only score of the game came after twenty minutes when Windsor after another powerful forward drive moved the ball out to their half backs who broke left catching the Trowbridge defence out with a three on two situation spreading the ball out to their left wing and then back inside to Rhys Davies their scrum half who finished off the move touching down to the left of the posts, their captain and standoff Neil Bagget missed the conversion,(5-0) play continued with both side’s unable to break through each other’s defences causing frustration and leading to the referee Mr Collins having to issue two yellow cards one for Lloyd Davis and another for the Windsor number seven Aaron McGroaty just before half time.

Windsor kicked off to start the second half and immediately Trowbridge right wing Ashley Chalk put in a long kick and chase taking play up to the Windsor try line only to be denied a try by some good defence from Gary Morgan the Windsor full back, with Trowbridge and Windsor now back to full strength both packs fought to retain the ball, the visitors getting the better of the tiring home pack continued to pressure the home defence and although turning down several kickable penalties choosing to kick to touch and dominating all the lineouts in order to get a try were unable to break through the home defence up to the final whistle ending the game five points to nil (5-0), even with a player advantage owing to a yellow card to a Windsor forward in the closing stages. Trowbridge creeped ahead of Grove as a result because of the loser's bonus point gained and travel to High Wycombe on Saturday.
