Trowbridge 0 Maidenhead 30

Trowbridge final chance of avoiding relegation ended with defeat to Maidenhead, the visitors kicked off and immediately forced Trowbridge back in defence and although they defended valiantly they soon gave away a penalty in front of their posts which Maidenheads full back Tom Finnie easily converted (0-3), from the restart Trowbridge forwards won a turnover ball and forced their way into the visitors twenty two their backs looking dangerous but unable to break through Maidenheads defence, turning down an easy penalty kick at goal Trowbridge kicked for touch then lost the lineout enabling the Maidenhead backs to move back up the field ending with a try from Maidenheads centre Christoph Bart and a successful conversion from Tom Finnie (0-10)Trowbridge were once again forced to defend from the restart but were unable to stop the Maidenhead backs from stretching them wide ending with a try for full back Tom Finnie out wide and a missed conversion (0-15) now into the last quarter of the first half and a final try from Maidenheads stand-off Perry Jansen, Tom Finnie missed the conversion to end the half nil-twenty (0-20).

The Trowbridge captain Scott Williams was yellow carded for a high tackle within five minutes of the second half starting, but even being reduced to fourteen the home side showed spirit and played their best rugby of the game forwards and backs linking together moving the ball around piling on the pressure but still unable to break the visitors defences, but the home side were set further back when Maidenheads left wing Henry Day got through to score their fourth and bonus point try, again Tom Finnie missed with the conversion making the score nil - twenty five (0-25), the home side again showed they were able to play with passion especially veteran prop Roy Hewitt who despite the score fought for every ball in the rucks and mauls, but once again Maidenhead got the upper hand and managed to get the final score of the game through their scrum half Mark Childerhouse who went over to score from a maul on the Trowbridge line in the last minutes of the game Tom Finnie again missed the conversion ending the game nil – thirty (0-30).
