Leighton Buzzard 20 – 17 Trowbridge
Trowbridge were left frustrated and disappointed after going down 20 – 17 at Leighton Buzzard denying them their first away win of the season, both sides were unable to make significant inroads due to some solid defence, both sides had penalty chances and both sides missed shots at goal.
Buzzard were the first to break the deadlock when the visitors started to push forward but in the process left their flanks exposed allowing left wing Graham Magill to round the defence and score out wide outside half Dan David missed with the conversion to take the lead five points to nil, but this only lasted a few minutes as the visitors ran in an excellent try from James Davies , Lloyd Davis was unable to add the extra two points but this levelled the scores at five a peace, both sides continued to be penalized but it was the Buzzard ten Dan David who scored through a well taken penalty goal to increase their lead to eight points to five, now into the last quarter of the first half Trowbridge seemed to be getting the edge over the home side stretching their defence and attacking from different angles until finally getting an overlap in the backs to put Ashley Chalk through to score again Davis missed with the conversion to take the score to eight points to ten at the brake (8-10).
In the second period the home side upped the tempo taking the game to Trowbridge and from a scrum the Buzzard wing forward Ross Bevan went through the visitors defence to score, once again the conversion was missed Buzzard taking the lead again thirteen points to ten, Trowbridge realising the game was slipping away from them really did fight back and start to take control in all aspects of the game only to once again fall fowl of the referee and from a tap and go penalty went further behind when the Buzzard nine Charlie Esdon went over to score under the posts, this time Dan David added the extra two points to take the score to twenty points to ten, the visitors now had to fight to get back into this game and started to pile the pressure on the home defence until they got the brake through putting prop Karl Parry over the line to score and this time Davis was successful with the conversion taking the score to twenty points to seventeen, with the visitors now in the ascendancy and still thinking there was time to win the game the referee called time with the score remaining at twenty points to seventeen. (20-17).
