Reading Fall to Trowbridge End Game

Adam Sullivan’s brace of tries which included a last gasp try for the hosts was just enough to see off Reading.
After Lloyd Davis had kicked an early penalty for the hosts the very good Reading pack fought back putting immense pressure on the home pack by setting up a rolling maul that led to the visitors first score from prop forward Mark Roberts and a conversion from their fly half Steve Mills, both sides continued to test out each other’s defences but in the process both side’s gave away several penalty’s that led to some good tactical kicking by both sides from one such kick the hosts ended up just yards from the Reading try line and from a quick throw in sent number eight Adam Sullivan in to score his first try Lloyd Davis adding the extras giving Trowbridge a first half lead of ten points to seven at the break (10-7).
The second period started much as the first ended with both side continuing to infringe, Reading regained the lead after Trowbridge had been awarded a free kick then lost advantage from the quick tap and go by losing the ball in the resulting ruck Reading spreading the ball wide to wing man Stuart Bortwick who broke through some poor tackles to score out wide Steve Mills added the conversion to take the score to ten points to fourteen, the hosts continued to concede more penalty’s in quick succession allowing Reading a platform in the home twenty two this giving the Reading centres room to break through the home defence and send in Max Proctor to up the score once again, Steve Mills added the extras ,with the score now ten points to twenty one and the pressure on, the host now had to raise their game and with the Trowbridge supporters giving lots of vocal support full back Josh Frost began to show his pace breaking through the visitors defence to link up with and send in prop Lee Fairclough to score, Davis again adding the extra two points, now into the last quarter of the game with the score at seventeen points to twenty one and everyone getting very tense and making mistakes, Reading are awarded a scrum just inside their twenty two which Trowbridge managed to turn, the referee awarding Trowbridge a reset scrum from which the home back row tried to force their way over the line to score only to lose the ball forward resulting in another set scrum to Reading, this scrum was also turned by the home pack and again the referee gave Trowbridge the reset scrum, this time Adam Sullivan broke from the back to force his way over to score Davis again adding the two points to end the game twenty four points to twenty one (24-21).
