Windsor 22- 15 Trowbridge

A resilient Trowbridge came within a whisker of pulling off a major shock with a powerful performance against a strong Windsor side. The visitors were quick to adapt to the muddy conditions in a tight first half that saw both sides testing each other’s defences.
Windsor were first to open the scoring after 35 minutes when Trowbridge went off side at the break down, Windsor full back Chris Laidler converted a 30 metre penalty goal to give the home side a 3 point advantage, but the visitors responded almost from the restart putting the home defence under pressure resulting in Trowbridge wing man James Macfarlane making a powerful brake spreading the home defence sending in the Man of the Match Shai Bonnick with the final pass to score near the posts, Lloyd Davis added the conversion to put Trowbridge in front at the brake 3 – 7.
The second period started much as the first ended with both sides defences under pressure until Rhys Davies broke through to touch down for the home side Chris Laidler added the extra two points giving Windsor a 10-7 advantage the next score came as a result of the Windsor scrum half being caught off side at a set scrum Lloyd Davis levelling the score’s at 10 – 10 with the resulting penalty goal, again the powerful Windsor backs attacked the Trowbridge line and again the Trowbridge defence held firm until Windsor created an overlap out wide sending in centre Neil Baggett with the final pass again Chris Laidler added the extra two points handing the lead back to Windsor 17 – 10, now into the last quarter with Windsor looking to close the game out when they went further in front with a score from their other centre Patrick Birch, this time Chris Laidler missed the conversion but this gave Windsor a 22 – 10 lead, saving the try of the match till last youngster Shai Bonnick broke through two tackles to run in and score from 60 metres Lloyd Davis was unable to add the extras ending the game 22-15 to Windsor, but Trowbridge came away with a losing bonus point.
In the other games Bletchley 12- 36 Towcestrians, Buckingham 18-33 Swindon, Chippenham 64- 18 Reading, Grove 24- 13 Maidenhead, Witney 15-17 Leighton Buzzard, Devizes continue their poor form going down 0-24 to Newbury Blues.
