Trowbridge 2nds had a hard fought but emphatic 33-7 win over Swindon on Saturday.
Trowbridge started the match with a howling gale behind them and very quickly took control. Swindon found it very difficult to make any headway into the wind and the pressure told when after a series of infringements with Sam McQueen slotting a penalty between the posts.
Shortly afterwards the lead was increased with Sam McQueen going over to score the first try after a scintillating run.
Swindon continued to struggle to make any impression and shortly before half time a second try was scored by Aaron Bray in the corner after some . This made the half time score 17-0
The second half started as almost every game this season with the opposition taking control. Swindon gathered a head of steam and within 5 minutes of the restart had gone under the posts for a try.
This seamed to galvanise Trowbridge and as much as Swindon tried to gain territory with the wind in their favour, Trowbridge ran the ball from all over the pitch. This tactic paid dividends with further tries from Sean Ellis, Justin Reid and a further try form Sam towards the end of the match. During the second half the Trowbridge defence was superb and kept an enthusiastic Swindon team at bay.
The bonus point win ensured that Trowbridge will start 2014 on top of the league.
A merry Christmas to all
